When choosing a helmet, select one that sits level on your head, about an inch above your eyebrows, without wobbling or pinching. Adjust the retention system until it feels snug but not tight. The helmet should stay securely in place when you shake your head side to side or up and down. A properly fitted helmet offers the best protection and all-day comfort in changing conditions.

Mips® is a low-friction layer built into the helmet that lets your head move slightly during certain impacts. That small amount of movement helps reduce rotational force, which can otherwise transfer to your head in a crash.
Do you need a hat under a snow helmet?
No, most snow helmets provide enough insulation on their own, and a hat can change how the helmet fits, making it too loose or shifting the padding out of place. If you run cold, a thin, moisture-wicking skull cap or balaclava works without affecting fit the way a thicker hat would.
